This is a replica Loki Mask from the hit film The Mask (1994) starring; Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz. This is a full sized version of the mask used in the film. This mask was modeled after a real prop that is also for sale. The mask can be worn if straps are attached. The mask is Green and made out of a very durable resin material. It measures 8.5 inches (21.59 centimeters) long by 7.5 inches (19.05 centimeters) wide by 3.75 inches (9.525 centimeters) deep. The mask itself is about .5 inches (1.27 centimeters) thick and thicker at nose area and is convex to fit around face. This item does not come with Display case as shown. It is available with mask in another selection. New in Box with easel, Note only the version sold by real art is actually cast and looks like the real prop. It is also the only one that matches any pictures that are shown. Do not be deceived by others selling a similar piece of lower quality that is not pictured and the item description does not match.

About this item: By Rita Addo Zakour, this imposing mask depicts Queen Idia, mother of Oba (king) Esigie who ruled Benin in the 16th century. The king is said to have worn the mask around his neck to drive away the forces of evil. The artisan names her hand-carved mask Abanbo, an Akan word which means “protection.”

About our Artist: As an artist, Rita Addo Zakour proudly includes African themes into her designs. ‘Having a passion for creating more designs inspires me, and I have taught this art to a number of people. The basic materials I use are sese wood and aluminum sheets. My favorite things in life are cooking and being with my family. I dream that we’ll one day have enough so I can also give back to others.’

About this item: Sculpted by hand of native African rubberwood, this face depicts a woman of youthful beauty. Long lashes frame demure eyes and applications of aluminum create intricate patterns on her cheeks and forehead. “Among the Hausa people of Nigeria, such masks are given to a woman by a man as a wedding proposal,” says artisan Abdul Aziz Mohamadu. “If she does not return the mask, it means the proposal as been accepted.” Named Shawa – Hausa for “Lover’s Beauty” – the mask is rubbed with white clay for an aged effect.

About our Artist: ‘I always knew I wanted to paint, but wasn’t sure I could make a living out of it, so I looked into other fields too,’ recalls Abdul Aziz Mohamadu. ‘I observed master carver Musa at his workshop for a period of time, then I picked up a log of wood and started carving out a mask as I had observed him doing. This surprised Musa and he was willing to help me perfect the skill. I developed a love for this new art, and that’s how I eventually became a master carver too!’
