Small wooden keepsake box, jewelry box, stash box Review

Small wooden keepsake box, jewelry box, stash box

This is my Prairie Box, reminiscent of the architectural style made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is elegantly simple. The sides are quarter-sawn sycamore which came from a friend’s mill. The wood, which contains a good bit of ray flecks, is beautiful. The walnut I used to make the legs came from an old barn in Etowah County, Alabama. It had exquisite color and figuring, but was too narrow to use for making much of anything. Too extraordinary not to use at all, I decided it would be perfect for the legs–which I attached to the sides with tiny poplar dowels. The lid is from a piece of paneling rescued from a law office remodel. The bottom of this box is maple and “floats” within grooves cut into the sides. This box stands on its own and adds a beautiful accent wherever it finds a home. It could also serve as an urn for a beloved pet, a jewelry box, an over night home for coins and keys, or any number of functions. This beautiful little box is handcrafted with love and will last for many generations. It measures approximately 5″ L x 5″ W x 4″ T
